On the invitation of Professor Liejin Guo, Director of State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China, Academician R.I. Nigmatulin visited the Chinese People's Republic from September 24 to October 6, 2008, and delivered a series of lectures on the progress in multiphase flow research.

On September 26-29, 2008, he presented two lectures at the Chinese National Annual Conference of Multiphase Flow Society in the city of Qingdao.

The Chinese side highly appraised the results of R.I.Nigmatulin's visit and expressed desire to expand scientific contacts between Russian and Chinese research centres, to promote the exchange of students, post-graduates and scientists and to organize joint workshops in the collaborative areas.
