She graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Moscow State University (qualification as a physiologist, specializing in physiology) in 2002. Since 2002, she has been working at the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Laboratory of Ecology of Coastal Benthic Communities. Her current position is Senior Researcher.
In 2009, she defended her PhD thesis, “Biomarkers of Pollution Impact on Bivalve Mollusks of the North Caucasian Coast of the Black Sea,” for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences (specializing in hydrobiology).
Main research interests: marine biology, ecology, Black Sea, Sea of Azov, Kerch Strait, Taman Bay, White Sea, coastal benthic communities, long-term changes in benthos, benthopelagic interactions, biodiversity, bivalves, seagrasses, macrozoobenthos, assessment of the impact of pollution on populations and communities, invasive marine species, bioindicators, biomarkers, protected areas.
She took part in a number of expeditions to the Kara, Caspian, Aral, Black and Azov Seas.
